Arsene Wenger Confesses: I Regret Not Signing Quality Manchester United Star - 4 years ago

The English midfielder has been a key performer for the Red Devils in the last decade, winning five Premier League titles, the Champions League trophy among other laurels for United during his 450 appearances for the club. Carrick was awarded a testimonial that saw various legends of the game converge to honour the midfielder at the Old Trafford on Sunday and Arsene Wenger believes he is worth more than that. The Frenchman told the Arsenal website: ‘I give Michael my deepest congratulations for his testimonial. I think he deserves it hugely. ‘I would say personally I’m an admirer of his career, of his quality. One of my regrets is never having had him as a player because I think he was one of the greatest players in English football. ‘I believe as well that he did not always get the reward and the tribute, the recognition he deserved. ‘But I’m an admirer of Michael and I wish him all the best for the future.’
