Monsoon rain in Luzon, Western Visayas on June 11

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – The southwest monsoon will continue to affect Luzon and Western Visayas on Monday, June 11.

In a bulletin issued 4 pm on Sunday, June 10, state weather bureau PAGASA warned Luzon to brace for moderate to heavy rain on Monday. Floods and landslides are possible.
Western Visayas will also have light to moderate rain, which could trigger floods in low-lying areas.
Some cities have already suspended classes in all levels for Monday, including Quezon City and Manila.

In an announcement on Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada's  "widespread flooding" was cited, and residents were advised to "take all necessary precautions and monitor news sources."
Mindanao and the rest of the Visayas, which are not affected by the southwest monsoon, will only experience isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms with "no significant impact."

Luzon and the Visayas are already coming from a rainy week due to, which had enhanced the southwest monsoon. Domeng left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Sunday morning.

PAGASA said in its monthly outlook that there could be up to two tropical cyclones in June, so it is possible that the Philippines would have another one this month.
The state weather bureau declared the
start of the rainy season last Friday, June 8.
