Grammy winner, Angelique Kidjo speaks Yoruba as she meets with singer Asa in Lagos - 2 years ago

Angelina Kidjo is currently in Lagos, Nigeria, granting interviews with Nigeria’s top media establishments on her recent win at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. The award she bagged on Sunday night was for her Celia album which was nominated in the World Best Album category against Burna Boy’s African Giant album and some others. Although Kidjo is a music legend and has bagged the Grammy award four times, her recent win against Burna Boy has placed more spotlight on her on social media. 36ng sighted a video which was shared on micro blogging platform, Twitter, by a user on the platform identified as @omoba_scholes, which captured the moment the multi-talented music icon walked into the studio of popular radio station, Smooth 98.1 FM. Nigerian singer Asa also walked into the studio and the two superstars engaged in a warm and tight embrace for several seconds. Watch below; Angelique Kidjo hailing Asa with “Omo Iya mi” is a vibe. Her yoruba is too fluent. A true African with Nigerian DNA — Duke of Ibadanland 🇳🇬🇱🇷 (@omoba_scholes) January 27, 2020
