Professor JohnBull - Season 5 Episode 3 (Bread Winner) - 4 years ago
Being overbearing can ruin your marriage, Professor Johnbull counsels successful wives Globacom’s didactic television drama series, Professor Johnbull, has advised successful women to allow love to rule their marriages instead of their financial power become an impediment. The company said this week’s episode is entitled Breadwinner, and is dedicated to the topical issue of financial upkeep in families, a tricky matter that leads to the break-up of many homes when not well managed. According to the episode, the issue of who pays the family bills, mostly regarded as the “bread winner”, is examined in great detail and promises to be entertaining, witty and equally educating. To drive home the lesson, the episode is centered round the family of Mr. and Mrs. Peters, with Mrs. Peters being the one taking care of the financial responsibilities of running the home. This is because her husband had lost his job. Breadwinner is, therefore, a journey in marriage counseling as the protagonist in the Series, Professor Johnbull, which is played by Kanayo O. Kanayo (KOK), dwells on offering advice to successful wives on how to conduct themselves appropriately when they find themselves as breadwinners in their homes. KOK argues that wives who are breadwinners should not adopt a domineering attitude towards their spouses as what matters in marriage is not who provides the finances but the love between husband and wife. He, therefore, counsels women who are more successful than their husbands not to treat such men as "nonentities". Posers the edition tries to unravel include: should a woman earn more than the man? Who should be the financial provider in the home? Should a woman quit a high-paying job to please her husband? Why are men threatened by the level of success attained by their wives? The programme goes on air at 8.30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays on NTA Network, NTA international on DSTV Channel 251 and NTA on StarTimes. Other characters in Professor Johnbull who feature in Breadwinner include the new entrants, Ndi (Angela Okorie), Jeroboam (Osita Iheme), Olaniyi (Yomi Fash-Lanso), Samson (Ogus Baba), Abadnego (Martins Nebo) and Jumoke (Bidemi Kosoko).
